Strange Eyes by War Mage Guild
(Crossing, Zoluren: Shorka 352)
I had recently returned from a short sabbatical, and was back to my normal routine of getting enough magic and lore to please Guild Master Gauthus. I was hanging about the Warrior Mage Guild, recently partially destroyed in the fire spewed by the insane Firewizard Mibgluc, when, right out the front door of the Warrior Mage Guild, the faint, transparent image of a slitted silver eye appeared before me. Naturally, I froze in my position, wondering what the strange thing might be.
At first I thought it might be some sort of Moon Mage spell like Locate or Clear Vision, but I quickly discarded that idea, knowing full well that nothing like THAT occurs due to any spell currently known. I proceeded to call on the gweth describing what I had seen, when suddenly, ANOTHER eye appeared before me, just like the last, but only this time, it was crystal green rather than silver.
Obviously, I was getting rather nervous as to what these eyes might pertain to, when fellow Elanthians that had heard my gweth message came to see the eyes themselves. Not long after the first few citizens arrived, a third eye appeared wavering in the sky, larger then the rest, but crystal green in color like the previous. Some were curious, while others were screaming in fear.
One person screamed at the top of his lungs, "OH MY GOD! WEÆRE ALL GOING TO DIE!"
The anxious crowd, myself included, began to attempt to discern what these things were. We all seemed to agree that the eyes did not seem friendly, and one concerned citizen mentioned S’kra Mur, simply because they were the only race that we knew of to have slitted eyes. Someone on the gweth mentioned the Three Deceivers, mentioned in the Mirror-Wraith Prophecy. We began to focus on that, when another eye appeared, the same as the last, large crystal green and hovering in the sky above. By this time we were used to it, and continued discussing the possible nature of these eyes. No more eyes appeared after the fourth, to the extent of my knowledge. Someone had a copy of the Mirror-Wraith prophecy, about the Three Deceivers that will destroy the land.
We related back and forth, but still did not successfully come up with a valid conclusion about the eyes, except, maybe, that someone was watching us. I was later forced to leave by situations out of my control, but I left with a memory that will remain fresh in my mind for a long time to come.
By my hand,
