Undiscovered Race?

(Therenborough, Therengia: 8 Akroeg 357)

Earlier today, after viewing the vision previously reported on, I rushed to Therenborough to investigate. I arrived after most of the activities had occurred, but managed to arrive in time to speak with Altan, a squire of Lord Torsten.

Altan apparently didn’t get out of the Keep much, and asked us several rounds of questions about Crossing, Shard, their lands, their people, and their governments.

After a short while of questioning, one of us asked Altan if he knew of the S’kra Mur race; they felt that if Altan planned to venture out into the world, he would do well to know of our friendly snakes.

After telling us that, yes, he had indeed seen a S’kra Mur, he proceeded to tell us that he felt "… there are some races I’ve seen that you might not have …" This, of course, got our attention, and we inquired further.

As it turns out, Altan had studied a number of the books held in his master’s private library and had read of a race we were unfamiliar with. When those gathered asked him of this race, he informed us that his memory on such subjects was very bad. He thought on our questions to describe the race in general, and presented us with the description of a race that "… can breathe water …" and would "… make good sailors …"

He admitted that he could not remember anything further, and apologized to those gathered for his forgetfulness. Soon after our question was answered, however, ‘pressing matters’ drew him away and left those remaining with his simple, yet cryptic, descriptions.
