Moon Gates Return
(Crossing, Zoluren: 296 Skullcleaver 351)
This evening I travelled from The Crossing to Shard to Riverhaven and back to The Crossing in exactly three steps and I witnessed the effects of an otherworldly fiend’s anger.
The Moon Mage Guild has finally deigned to release the usage of the Moon Gate spell to its members. I have personally witnessed the great benefits and interesting side effects of this particular spell.
This spell requires the initial focusing of a moonbeam to cast, but even so it will cut one’s walking time in half. Unfortunately, caravans will *not* follow through the Gates.. and too bad, this could have been a new source of income for weary Moon Mages.
Earlier today a young Moon Mage demonstrated a nasty side-effect to the Gates and attempted to open one without first focusing a moonbeam. He was stunned when the rogue Moon Gate opened and a voidspawn stepped forth. It quickly dispatched of the mage by exploding his heart and then retreated into the errant Gate. Before it could close five tenebraelings (nasty, Dwarf-sized creatures covered in black fur and sporting wild, flapping wings) poured forth.
I have the nagging feeling that quickly-advanced adolecents may make use of this spell in interesting ways (already witnessed as people have been placing Moon Gates near the town gates of The Crossing). People already dread the imminent opening of rogue Moon Gates within the town’s walls . . .
