Show Me The Way Home
(Crossing, Zoluren: 237 Arhat 352)
After returning to the crossing from a swim in Arthe Dale, I heard mention of somthing out of the ordinary on the gweth. Two Inkhornes had somehow managed their way into the area on their own. One was at the Northeast Gate, the other in the Town Green. Heading to the Town Green I saw the creature acting as any other Inkhorne you might see in the area where Black Leucros are found – that is – it was just standing there. Felicitti, a Moon Mage that was there could read nothing about the creature, so we simply followed it on it’s wandering in town. It seemed to like eating grass we dropped for it, tho not brownies (grins).
The sad part of this tale relates to how some people of the crossing treated the inkhorne. Two people attacked the majestic creature; one burning it with a spell, the other shooting a bolt at it. Someone even asked about skinning it. Were it not for those of us that had now surrounded it this Inkhorne would lay dead in the streets of the Crossing. Fortunately it never came to that . . .
Soon we were ushering it towards the gates, my voice joining those that urged it on. We pointed the way up the Northern Trade Route, past Kaerna, and to the faded roadsign that marks the path to it’s home. Wounded, tired, and scared, the passive creature rejoined a herd of it’s kind with the aid of some very kind souls of Elanthia. I can only hope the other was treated as well.
