Amiss Displays the Tokka Cards for a Select Few

(Shard, Ilithi: Lirisa 353)

At the recent festival at Shard a few individuals were invited by Amiss into her Inner Sanctum for they had "showed promise in the ways of the Realms". She demonstrated the use of the Tokka Cards for these individuals and talked on many topics. See below through my eyes only those times when Amiss herself was talking about the Tokka Cards or giving predictions.

Amiss says, "You can turn from 2 to 5 cards for a valid prediction. Now understand, we are still working with the various cards… Some of the effects can be a bit unexpected and the actual faces of the deck may change as we stabilize it."

Amiss focuses her attention on Katamus and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss picks the first card, The Broken Circle. Amiss draws the second card, The Rogue. Amiss chooses the third card, The Cat. Amiss shows the fourth card, The Halfling. Amiss selects the final card… Katamus’s breath catches slightly as The Barrow is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds Katamus as the future is revealed.

Amiss says, "Not a particularly good reading I fear."

Amiss says, "The deities represent particular skills. Each mage’s deck will interpret individually. My deck will not read as yours would Muirgan. There wil be no exchange of information, I’m afraid. The Deity cards are what are individual, the othere have simialr effect in each deck. Some have effect on duration, some on strength, some have other rather interesting effects. Each deck will be different Joshuah, I’d like to stabilize them for individual, but I’ve had no success as yet."

Amiss says, "The Barrows. An unfavorable card."

Amiss says, "The cards come randomly. Well, as we are a unified guild, I don’t see how I could favor one group that chooses to affiliate with the old sects over another. Not unless one of the old tools could be recovered for each sect. Demosel herself created the first deck from the old lore. I have had limited success with the Fetish Bags of the Skindancers. We are researching some of the other old lore as well."

"But another prediction…" Amiss says, "Muirgan…Need to shuffle between prediction as the Web constantly shifts. The fetish bag is similar in that it must be shaken to attune it."

Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards, however, are unwilling to cooperate and scatter everywhere. Amiss scrambles to quickly reclaim them, looking slightly embarassed. Amiss says, "Bother."

Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards slide together smoothly except for one card that juts out at an odd angle. Amiss focuses her attention on Muirgan and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss shows the first card, The Ways. Amiss picks the second card, The Web of Fate. Amiss places the third card, The Minstrel. Amiss says, "Very good." Amiss picks the fourth card, The Cat. Amiss draws the final card… Muirgan’s breath catches slightly as The Halfling is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds Muirgan as the future is revealed.

Amiss says, "Interesting, the Cat and the Halfling again."

Amiss says, "The Professions and Races relate to the individual being read. Some cards are beneficial to certain persons, some to others. The effect is rather noticeable. The Ways is a card of varied meaning. I’ll leave that to you to discover of your own accord. The Web is a card of great strength as you might expect. Again I don’t want to reveal too much as the effects are still a bit unstable. They may well change as we stabilize the deck. This is just to give you a feel for what the predictions look like and a little familiarity with some of the cards."

Amiss says, "Perhaps I should write a book… Some of the advanced tools are quite complicated."

Amiss says, "I well know my limits. As I said, there can be other effects. Sleepwalkers will not be using them safely. There is always that posibility when you touch the void. "

Amiss says, "The Plane of Probabilties, the Void, the Web of Fate, all names for the same thing. All will have a personal choice I’m sure. They were favored by Fortune’s Path. Also, the Skin Dancers, but a much simpler tool." Amiss says, "I may have to see if I can find an enchant to enhance the bones a bit…"

Amiss says, "So many things to research and such limited time. They are not eclusive to any sect affiliation only to the guild itself. "

Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards slide together very roughly. Amiss shuffles the cards and they glide smoothly together. The entire deck glows momentarily, bathing Amiss’s in a soft white light. Amiss says, "They are still behaving a bit oddly." Amiss focuses her attention on Nathan and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss turns the first card, The Hourglass. Amiss picks the second card, The Raven. Amiss picks the third card, The Empty Loom. Amiss deals the fourth card, The Halfling. Amiss selects the final card… Nathan’s breath catches slightly as The Enchantress is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds Nathan as the future is revealed.

Amiss asks, "That Halfling seems to be one of the stubborn sort, eh?"

Amiss says, "It may be that Halfling plays the part in the future of all here. It could very well be my effect on the deck." Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards, however, are unwilling to cooperate and scatter everywhere. Amiss scrambles to quickly reclaim them, looking slightly embarassed. Amiss says, "Having a horrid time with them. These really have no proper finish for handling."

Amiss focuses her attention on Glimmerglass and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss turns the first card, The Silver Scroll. Amiss selects the second card, The Falling Star. Amiss selects the third card, The Void. Amiss and Glimmerglass look distressed as The Void is displayed. Amiss shows the fourth card, The Cobra. Amiss draws the final card… Glimmerglass’s breath catches slightly as The Journeyman is revealed. The cards glow softly, but the glow quickly swirls off into the vortex of The Void.

Amiss says, "It is not a favorable card."

Amiss says, "The void absorbed the prediction in that case. And in that case, it was a very good thing. Indeed it was. Similar in that particular case. There are other effects not quite so benign."

Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards slide together smoothly except for one card that juts out at an odd angle. Amiss says, "This is a simple prediction." Amiss focuses her attention on Candidus and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss draws the first card, The Lion. Amiss picks the final card… Candidus’s breath catches slightly as The Evergarden is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds Candidus as the future is revealed.

Amiss says, "A simple prediction is much less telling, but also, a much lower chance of unwanted side effects. I am choosing in my turning. I choose to turn 3 cards at someone or turn 5 cards at someone."

"The Evergarden…." Amiss says, "It represents a boon to survival skills. A childrens tale of a garden that blooms year rouns with every type of plant imaginable. Of course if the Lion is not representative of survival skills, it has no effect. The cards mean many things in the hands of a skilled predictor."

Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards slide together smoothly except for one card that juts out at an odd angle. Amiss focuses her attention on Rayth and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss picks the first card, The Gor’tog. Amiss picks the second card, The Wolf. Amiss places the third card, The Hunter. Amiss deals the fourth card, The Wellspring. Amiss chooses the final card… Rayth’s breath catches slightly as The Stargazer is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds Rayth as the future is revealed.

Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards slide together smoothly. Amiss asks, "Who have I missed?" Amiss says, "I’ll just do a couple more." Amiss focuses her attention on Brilig and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss deals the first card, The Boar. Amiss shows the second card, The Ways. Amiss draws the third card, The Human. Amiss selects the fourth card, The Warrior. Amiss draws the final card… Brilig’s breath catches slightly as The Dawn is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds Brilig as the future is revealed.

Amiss says, "The Dawn, the start of a new day….." Amiss says, "Very good card." Amiss smiles.

Amiss cuts the deck in half and shuffles the two halves together. The cards slide together smoothly. Amiss focuses her attention on you and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss shows the first card, The Endless Seas. Amiss draws the second card, The Journeyman. Amiss selects the third card, The Locked Door. Amiss places the fourth card, The Wolf. Amiss places the final card… Your breath catches slightly as The Halfling is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds you as the future is revealed.

Amiss says, "The endless seas represent…" Amiss says, "Well, I think you’ve got the idea of what to look for…I’ll leave it to you to discover."

Amiss says, "Don’t worry about that quite yet Brilig, they are still far from ready." Amiss focuses her attentions on the deck and her eyes glaze slightly as she begins to turn the cards. Amiss turns the first card, The Endless Seas. Amiss selects the second card, The . Amiss says, "And for my self." Amiss places the third card, The Woodsman. Amiss shows the fourth card, The Unicorn. Amiss shows the final card… Amiss’s breath catches slightly as The Journeyman is revealed. The cards glow softly and a corona briefly surrounds Amiss as the future is revealed.

Amiss asks, "A blank card got in there?"

Amiss says, "That’s why I don’t put apprentice decks up for sale. But you can see, they do exist and they do work in a fashion. It’s doubtful other guilds will have the training to even manipulate the deck."
