Theren trial…Slavers or Saviours

(Therenborough, Therengia: 284 Skullcleaver 359)

An adorable halfling page jumps out of the shadows, carrying a cauldron in one hand an a parchment bearing the seal of House Hedeon in the other. He asks you to hold the parchment, and you oblige. Grinning at you mischievously, he tags you and yells, "You’re it!" and runs away. Standing there puzzled, you begin to read the parchment…

To the cherished citizens of Therengia and our friends in the southern provinces,

Rumour is correct. There are trial proceedings taking place in the amphitheater of Theren proper and to my understanding there are to be multiple issues addressed.

The first being who retains guardianship of young Lady Courtnei Deitard. This part of the trial began last evening and is to be continued tonight.

Lady Courtnei is from Aesry Surlaenis’a where she had lived with her grandmother, and then she came to be cared by and later worked for Lady Verda Thistlebriar. After a time, she was adopted into Sir Storym’s and Madame Salamae’s home and family but still has retained her position with Lady Verda Thistlebriar.

Young Lady Courtnei’s father, Lord Wilum Deiitard, arrived in Theren claiming that his daughter was taken without his consent, and he wants to take her back to the island with him. Lady Verda claims that the matter was arranged with the help of Courtnei’s grandmother Lady Merium, who is also Lord Wilum’s mother Lady Merium has recently arrived in Theren from the islands. Until the trial ends and this issue is resolved, my Lord husband, Lord Valkrin Falcata Hedeon, has been appointed guardian interim of Young Lady Courtnei.

Lord Valkrin and myself …all of Theren for that matter, are very concerned for the well-being and happiness of young Lady Courtnei. She has been an outstanding citizen of Theren for most of her life, and she is well loved. We pray and trust that justice will be served, the truth revealed, and that peace will be found by all parties involved. Our prayers are extended to her, and to her families.

The next charge is one of slavery. Both Lord Wilum and Lady Verda have been charged and that will be the next ‘phase’ of the trial. I believe that it will begin after the guardianship issue is resolved.

The proceedings are for public record and are open to any who would like to come and lend their support for those involved.

By my hand,

Lady Lilea Holadae Hedeon

Attached to the parchment is a little note that reads OOC follows:
