Alone – a Musical Interlude

With apologies to Willie Reale

Sometimes the days, they can be very busy

Only in stillness does doubt find its way

So I like to stop and think now and then

I sit and I wait, and think what might have been

I think of the reasons I have to be happy

I try not to think of all that’s been lost

And that makes me happy all over again

Only acknowledge the happy until all else is gone

What made you think that I was unhappy?

Did you see past the smile?

What were you thinking was making me blue?

Did you see through the cheer?

I only come out here to sit and remember

Is that what it was that drove you away?

I love being an elf in the warm sunny summer

I wish all was as I pretend it must be

On days such as this one, that’s what I do

Maybe then you’d have stayed, maybe then we’d be two

This morning I woke up and thought, “I am happy!”

Last night I dreamed that I would be happy

It’s been since Lirisa since I have been sad

Eight months since I saw you, eight months you’ve been gone

I’ll go be alone to think how I’m happy

It’s here I recall how best to be happy

For all that I have, and all that I’ve had

Be grateful for all that’s been given to me

What made you think that I was unhappy?

Did you see past the smile?

What were you thinking was making me blue?

Did you see through the cheer?

I only came out here to think how I’m happy

Is that what it was that drove you away?

I love being an elf in the warm sunny summer

I wish all were as I pretend it must be

…but mostly I was happy in the time spent with you.
